Amgen, a global leader in biotechnology, prioritizes innovation to address critical health challenges for ill patients. The goal of the Real Time Resourcing (RTR) proposal at Amgen is to enhance human resource management to enable more fluid decision making for leadership. Through establishing guidelines for capacity in addition to resource administration, RTR is looking to enhance efficiency. Our team’s goals were to analyze the present supply management system and identify potential improvements and challenges utilizing employee input. In turn, this input could be utilized to improve resource supply, suggesting solutions that prompt novel workstreams across Amgen. These solutions will motivate datacentric workflows (in which accurate data on roles decrease manual intervention and better the reliability of resource assignment), increase productivity, as well as direct strategic choices.

Our first objective was to holistically understand Resource Tracking by completing a White Paper presentation on resourcing business guidelines, proven supply management techniques, and administration of portfolios. Secondly, our team collected user input to inform the present as well as subsequent state. We created an interview guide to collect feedback from supply stakeholders and derived important insights through customer interviews with various divisions. Then, our team harnessed the power of AI with the interviews to help assemble user stories and consolidate them into a user requirements document, ensuring to manually check every output. Lastly, we helped create a workshop our liaison led to define supply administration, generate a process flow diagram containing weighted necessities, and review the characteristics of the present tools in use.
