Abzena is a CDMO + CRO that provides fully integrated, tailored drug design, development, and GMP manufacturing services spanning from drug discovery through commercial production. This project aimed to support Abzena by evaluating its platform process for monoclonal antibody (mAb) production for potential process modifications across key upstream and downstream unit operations. The team assessed steps such as bioreactor runs, clarification, capture, and polishing to determine their impact on costs and product quality. Additionally, the project analyzed whether any suggested adjustments in one stage may influence downstream processing efficiency. In parallel with laboratory experimentation, the team evaluated the potential financial implications of the suggested process modifications by working within Abzena’s internal budget framework.
